Fergie MacDonald

On the Friday night the recent Northern Lights John Lennon Festival opening the event was Ceilidh performer Fergie MacDonald and Fergie and his band played a selection of well recognised tunes that got the festival off in a true highland tradition. Fergie closed his selection with a tune he had specifically written for the occasion and titled “Durness”. Fergie has been asked by Julia Bard John Lennon’s sister and Donnie Munro independently if they may write lyrics for the tune. Both have been given copies and it is possible that there will be two different song versions one in Gaelic the other in English.

Youth Club

After such a successful fund raiser last year Youth worker Margery Morrison will work with the young people again this festive season to arrange a local Christmas card delivery service. Further details will be available by the beginning of December.

Bonfire and Fireworks

The annual village bonfire and fireworks display is scheduled to be on the 5th November at 7.30pm weather permitting at the old dump site on Lerinbeg. The fire fighters have once again agreed to officiate at the event. A barbeque will be available and a small charge toward the costs will be taken. All welcome.
