Filming

At least 2 locations have been used in Durness for a new film being made by Blue Planet Productions. The Film starring Scottish actor John Hannah is about a young girl conceived by sperm donation seeking out her true biological father. The film is being made in several places in the Highlands but scenes shot in Durness were in the village square and the John Lennon memorial garden at the village hall.

Youth Outing

12 Youth club members took the opportunity to visit Cape Wrath last week. As a one off outing the children were taken to the most north westerly point to see one of the mayor local attractions to visitors. After school the minibus collected the children they were taken to the passenger ferry where John Morrison transported across the Kyle to the waiting minibus for the 11 mile trip. They spent about 45 minutes exploring the area before returning to the mainland.
Last Sunday they were at the legend of Chimera an equestrian spectacular at the Inverness Caledonian thistle football ground.

School Trip

Durness and Scourie primary school primaries 5 to 7 were at Arnaboll last weekend from Thursday to Sunday. Head teacher at Durness primary school has been taking children to the old shepherd’s cottage on the Eriboll Estate at several occasions for the last few years. The camping and activity weekend was an opportunity for the recent skills obtained at the engineering day to be put into practice and they all participated in the building of a bridge over the burn. Graham was accompanied by Katy Lee, Tony Jackson and countryside Rangers Paul Castle and Donald Mitchell. In addition to bridge building the youngsters climbed Ben Arnaboll, played games and all participated in making the meals.
