Liaison Group meeting

The 25 MOD Durness community liaison group meeting was held last Thursday 24 May in Durness village hall. On this occasion the meeting was chaired by Colonel Willie Levac.
It was stated that the recent Neptune warrior exercise had not achieved as much as in previous exercise and this was due to the restraints on the exercise. Inert bombs and aircraft approach had been altered for this occasion as the exercise was moved to a time during lambing. From a community tourist point this was acceptable but Balnakeil Farm had some reservations. The dates for next years exercise will be announced as soon as possible.
After a short discussion on the process for influencing future dates and explanations about the difficulty in coordinating all the branches of the forces especially naval ships along with probable future exercise involving more ground troops the meeting moved on to the previous minutes for matters arising.
Noise monitoring during exercises will be occurring when resources allow. The date of the next meeting was set for 4 October.
