Mark McCowan ducks of Durness primary this year with the Montgomery Rose bowl

 



Mark McCowan was ducks of Durness primary this year. Mark was presented with the Montgomery Rose bowl at the recent end of term prize giving. Sophie Macleod and Elizabeth Marsham were joint winners of the Clarke Quake for artistic achievement and Elizabeth Marsham won the one off prize for science. Twenty five years ago the Bobby Morrison badminton trophy was presented in memory of Bobby after his death by his wife Florrie and every year this trophy has been awarded to the champion badminton player of the primary school. The first winner was Caroline McCowan nee Duncan and this year her son Mark won the trophy.
Leaving primary this year and starting Kinlochbervie High after the summer holidays are Mark McCowan, Sophie Macleod, Elizabeth Marsham, Abbey Corbett, Christopher Arrowsmith, Tom Robbins, Kelsey Keith and Nicky Bleasdale.
Leaving High school this year are Clair Morrison, working locally for the summer, Rhiannon Myer Turner studying Psychology at Glasgow University, Ross O’Brien has started working with his father in O’Brien’s construction and Nicola Morrison who is starting a hairdressing apprenticeship at Head Gardeners in Inverness.

Flower and Vegetable Show

This years Flower and Vegetable Show will be held at the Durness Village Hall August Saturday 18th. Groups will include Potted Plants Flowers, Vegetables and the Junior Competition a VEGGIE SEA MONSTER Made from Vegetables and or Fruit. Further details will be available locally.
