School

Last week Tongue primary school visited Durness to participate in St Andrews Day celebrations. Along with a few games the children were performing several Scottish dances and singing a selection of Scottish songs. Nearly all participating wore a piece of tartan. This event was organised by Mhairi Magee through the traditional youth music initiative.
Good news also arrived at Durness form Tesco. The superstore opening in Thurso has gifted £500 to the schools in the area.
This years Christmas treat is on Saturday 15 December when the children will perform Little Red Riding Hood. All are in vied to attend.

Carol Service

James and Julie Clark invite all to attend the nine lessons and Carol Service at Eriboll church on the 18 December at 3pm. Local posters will give fuller details.

Smoo Cave Hotel

Hugh and Francis Morrison are the new owners of Smoo Cave Hotel. Hugh who works with the Highland Council and Frances has been running the hotel for the last year has finally completed the sale to take over the premises. They are intending to improve many of the facilities and services but will be open on the period running up to Christmas and New Year. The fully licensed hotel is open to residents and visitors. Teas, coffee and meals are available all day. They intend to frequently have Live Music


Youth Club Card Delivery

Boxes for collection of local delivery Christmas cards will be in the Mathers shop, Ronnie at the candle shop, Loch Croispoil bookshop cards eligible for delivery will have to have a local stamp available at 10 pence per card from the above the School and Margery Morrison from the 7th December. Boxes will be emptied on Saturday 15 and Saturday 22nd.

Broadband

Councillor Robbie Rowantree reported to the Community Council that the Scottish parliament has promised that every home should be able to connect to some level of internet broadband. He is encouraging those in areas where a broadband connection cannot be made to contact him. Robbie.Rowantree@highland.gov.uk
