Smoo Cave

Music promoters from Edinburgh address the community council at there last meeting to engage there support for an event they are arranging in June. The tour that will include an improvising saxonophist John Bucanan and Japanese musician Akio Suzuki is part of an experimental excursion for musicians that use natural spaces and acoustics. Akio Suzuki has been making earthy yet ethereal sounds for over four decades all quietly emanating from the Japanese countryside. Born in 1941, he's made outdoor sound the focus of his career, constructing installations that transcend space and time, turning the outside world into a lucid daydream

They work in spaces that have bizarre acoustic properties. The promoters have been in consultation with the Highland Council owners of the Smoo cave and Historic Scotland regarding the necessary permissions. The event is to be held on the 23 June.

Liaison Group Meeting

The next meeting of the Durness Liaison Group and Mod will be held on the 28 march at the village hall.
