Book Signing
Kevin Crow, Iain Anderson, Michael Russell and Rob Gibson
On Saturday 29 July Rob Gibson of the SNP and list MSP for the Highlands and Islands was signing copies of his latest book “ The Highland Clearances Trail ” at the Loch Croispol Bookshop and Restaurant. The book is written for the visitor and student and encourages people to visit the clearances sites. He has clarified many complexities involved in the evictions and presents the accounts that devastated Highland communities with a clear presentation. As this period of history becomes more accountable in academic circles Rob keeps to presenting the peole that lived there in a sense of place. It makes reading about the clearances easy. Among those that attended to obtain copies and talk to Rob were Iain Anderson, radio Scotland broadcaster, and Michael Russell writer, film maker and politician whose first novel “The next Big Thing” is to be published early next year by Balnakeil Press, the publishing company set up by Kevin Crowe and Simon Long the owners of the bookshop.
