Cape Wrath Range
Cape wrath range including Garvie island will be active with various combinations of air bombardment, naval gunfire support and helicopter operations during the following dates: 4th to 8th September 2006. Times from 1000 to 1700. 11th to 15th September 2006. Times from 0800 to 1700 When the range is active, red flags will be flown and sentries stationed on the Cape Wrath road. Normally the Daill to Cape Wrath road will remain open during air bombardment operations on Garvie Island only, however the nature of some practices and in the interests of public safety may cause closure. The road will be closed on the above dates. Advice can be sought from the sentries, who will be in contact with the range officer conducting the practice, or by contacting the freephone number. However, whatever the nature of the air bombardment practice, under no circumstances is any person to leave the road or proceed anywhere onto the land particularly the land north of the road within the range area, when the red flags are flying. Youth Club
The youth club raised £185 at their event in the village square last week. The children collected coins in their spiral around the village green and sold bar be que food from the garden of the community house. On Thursday the youths were at Inverness ice skating
Geopark

Charity Shop
Jill Bruce raised nearly £1000 during the period she was running the charity shop in the village square. Jill who is head teacher at Kinlochbervie Primary has for the past two years conducted a fund raising venture during the school holidays. All kinds of objects were for sale and many local groups have benefited by her efforts. The shop is now closed as a charity shop and will be reopening under new ownership on Saturday. The Lotus Leaf for health and well being will be open from 12 noon. The new enterprise with Tim and Gill Bleasdale will be selling oils, soaps, health foods, jewellery, cards, books, games and incense.
Visiting Author
Linda Gillard graduated from Bristol University and trained as an actress at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Linda accidentally became a successful freelance journalist and wrote many articles based on her self-sufficient “Good Life” in rural Cambridgeshire. Linda now lives on the Isle of Skye, realising a long-held dream to move to a Scottish island and write full-time. Linda was signing copies of her novels Emotional Geology and A Lifetime Burning at Loch Croispol Bookshop last Friday.
